[personal profile] verity: maybe we need to have a het mpreg fest

ME: That would be SO COOL

ME: and hey, het mpreg isn't obscure enough by itself, so I could write the RPF werebear mpreg fic that I've been dreaming about. that should be sufficiently specialized, yes?

Multifandom, 500 word minimum, possibly to allow updates from WIP. ('Cuz I know there's at least two of you with fics that'd qualify. *g*)

Interested?

I think the banner is both alt-texted and unbroken now. I think. *facepalm*

In terms of my own commenting, I have three fics that I read and have been meaning to leave feedback (one of them for, like, two years). Also I want to make a point of leaving feedback in non-Buffy fandoms, especially SPN, because I often feel shy and don't.

In terms of my fics I'd love other people to comment on, there are these below. I think possibly the latter two are just Too Weird to Live (or get anyone to read), but it's worth a try.

SPN
Respite - Dean/Ellen - circa S3 - 7300 words - R
Before Dean leaves this life for good, he finds someone to come home to for a while.

In a House By the Sea, With Mermaids - Sam, Dean - futurefic, spoilers through 7.10 - 3400 words - PG-13
The one where they're retired and Sam has severe hearing loss and yet one day starts hearing singing

SPN RPF
Won't You Be My Teddy Bear - Gen/Jared, ensemble - 5k words - PG-13
In which Gen travels to a new werebear clan to be mates with a boy she's never met.

Firefly/Matilda
Lift - River, Matilda - spoilers for all of both canons - 1800 words - PG
While at the academy, River dreams of a girl who lifts things with the power of her eyes.

Revenge

Based solely on the recruitment power of this vid that [livejournal.com profile] molly_may recced, I started watching Revenge.

I've seen two eps so far, and I am enjoying it a lot. It feels like it's been a while since I've been so immediately engaged with the characters and the plot from the pilot forward - not since Downton Abbey, anyway. I'm not sure that it's good, exactly, but it's got scheming and Woman With Plans and nerdy (yet ridiculously wealthy) BFF and lots of very pretty people. In terms of people pretending to be other people, it is much more to my taste than Ringer (which I seem to have given up on).

Eventually Emily Thorne, heiress to billions returned high society to take revenge on the people who betrayed her father, is going to need some more layers than just ruthlessness, competence, and a gorgeous chilling smirk, but right now those things are plenty.

Her buddy Nolan is wonderful; from his first moment on-screen (wearing this), I knew I was going to probably going to love him. (To be fair, he's clearly pretty fabulous in the vid, too.)

Madeleine Stowe is great, too, as the "reigning queen of the Hamptons." I think I've only ever seen her in Twelve Monkeys, but was always rather fond of her in it (which reminds me I'm due a rewatch).

I will definitely be watching more.

1. The funky little musical intro to the DVD menu. Since the show has no opening credits music and since I watched the first four and a half seasons on DVD (one Netflix disk at a time, oh yeah), those few notes are the SPN signal: "Is time for pretty boys and monsters now!"

2. "Lazarus Rising." Just showed it to Mr. Roommate (married to Miz Roommate), and my gosh. SO PERFECT. The opening scene, the structure of the whole thing (not a scene wasted), the sneaky Ruby intro, the beautiful set-up of the Sam-Dean conflict for the season, set-up for Sam's arc, and then there's that final scene. One of my favorite dramatic eps of the entire series. MMMH.
