some things I love about SPN

1. The funky little musical intro to the DVD menu. Since the show has no opening credits music and since I watched the first four and a half seasons on DVD (one Netflix disk at a time, oh yeah), those few notes are the SPN signal: "Is time for pretty boys and monsters now!"

2. "Lazarus Rising." Just showed it to Mr. Roommate (married to Miz Roommate), and my gosh. SO PERFECT. The opening scene, the structure of the whole thing (not a scene wasted), the sneaky Ruby intro, the beautiful set-up of the Sam-Dean conflict for the season, set-up for Sam's arc, and then there's that final scene. One of my favorite dramatic eps of the entire series. MMMH.

Re: the Ruby thing: I've actually heard complaints about how Ruby and Sam's on the fly "Krissy" thing was unbelievable. But I just saw it as Ruby taking initiative and not letting Dean know. She's the one who says "I should go," and then it all follows from there.

Yeah, I take the "Krissy" scene as Sam and Ruby being quick on the uptake. Ruby in particular - from the very beginning of the scene, she pretends she has no idea who Dean is (or Bobby for that matter). Did they bring the pizza? Are Sam and this dude together?

So it goes along with with my head!canon that Ruby is very, very good at being flexible and thinking on her feet.
