Let's have a conversation day. What's the most recent fanwork you've enjoyed? Any fandom.

Going back past several that I mildly enjoyed to the most recent one to blow me away, this:

Fanfic for the Emily series by L M Montgomery. Takes a cracky premise (the diary of Emily's hated high school rival, turning Emily Climbs inside out in a sort of Rosenkrantz and Guildenstern are Dead way), but it's just good, the writing, the characterization, how very unlikable Evelyn usually is yet how completely different from her flat cameos in Montgomery.

Ooooh. I only very vaguely remember the Emily books, and I only read the first two. This sounds amazing, though! I do love seeing the main events from other people's perspectives. If I ever get around to rereading those, I'm definitely coming back to read this after.

(Also, hi, you! I realized the other day that I hadn't seen you post in forever, and today I had ideas of going to your journal and just commenting on the most recent post to say that you were missed. And here you are! Anytime you felt like posting to LJ again, on any topic whatever, I (and lots of other people, I suspect) would be happy to see you.)

Today it was [livejournal.com profile] doyle_sb4's "once in a lullaby" a NA!verse fic rec'd by [livejournal.com profile] rebcake. One of the most haunting things I've ever read in this fandom or elsewhere.

Oh man, [livejournal.com profile] doyle_sb4 will break your heart every time. And the Normal Again 'verse is a great way to do it.

I had never heard of her before to be honest. And there is just NOT enough NA!verse or therapy fics in this fandom which is weird IMO. But this one - yes, oh my.

I've actually come across some other really astonishing stories this week; "Holding On" by [livejournal.com profile] il_mio_capitano , a rewrite of TR in which Buffy really lays bare her rage and frustration to Giles, is so raw and almost as painful to read as DT is to watch, which is quite and achievement IMO. http://capitano-fic.livejournal.com/3404.html

The most recent discovery was "Self-Indulgent Post-NFA Spuffy Ramble,", which was rec'd by [livejournal.com profile] red_satin_doll, who I think got it from you. This is the most practical Spuffy fic I've ever read.

Oh, yeah! I remember reading it, although I don't offhand remember reccing it. Maybe I did. I recced a lot of things at buffyversetop5 over the years. :)

I honestly dont remember who rec'd [livejournal.com profile] stultiloquena's story to me, although that's no surprise. when I bookmark something (story, fic, vid) I try to include who rec'd it so I can give them credit but my original bookmark was lost when the desktop was bbq'd.

I do remember very clearly [livejournal.com profile] rebcake rec'ing Anne Sewell Jenning's The Ballad of
Randy and Joan to me when I was pretty new to this fandom; but pretty much anything they recommend is gold.

This is the most practical Spuffy fic I've ever read.

Have you read [livejournal.com profile] quinara's "What It is to Burn" part of her "long distance to London" series? I was rereading it again today and I definitely enjoy it more now than I did a year ago. And now that I've read a lot of Spuffy fic in the last year I appreciate the meta aspects of it in terms of fanon depictions of Spuffy sex.
