Housemate wishes to inform the Internet that we have only two episodes left in the Great Buffywatch of '09-'10. We're finishing them this afternoon.

Yay!

I really want to know what she thought about "Empty Places," since just thinking about it makes me go STAB STAB STAB.

Actually, I think I'm going to pre-empt that with a big long post with my own thoughts on that ep, as it's one that bothers me a lot and is a big reason why I've been dreading these last five episodes. (Other reasons: Willow/Kennedy sex, the appearance of Mr. Swirly Coat King of Pain, and several really unfortunate Buffy outfits. And also Chosen, most of which I recall making me go STAB STAB STAB.)

But I'll mention the housemate's response, too. :)

Haha! I'll look forward to it! I'm largely fine with "Chosen" ("largely" being the operative word there), but there's lots to hate in the last few episodes, definitely.

I'm very amused at the Buffy's outfits hate, though. Very amused. ;D

I'm okay with "Empty Places." I think it was important for Buffy to get kicked out so that we can have her come back. I think all the Potentials are terrified and worried that they are not being led well, so they need to try a different leader before they realize they really do need Buffy.

Also then there is Spike telling Buffy she's awesome.

On the stabby end of things is all the (sigh) additional sex. Where did all the Potentials go that night? Are they having a camp-out in the backyard with Andrew?

I think I could have been okay with it if her coming back was handled better. I felt anti-climactic to me.

I think all the Potentials are terrified and worried that they are not being led well, so they need to try a different leader before they realize they really do need Buffy.

I can agree with that. I don't have a problem with them telling Buffy they want to try out a different leader--I think it was good that Faith got a chance. I have a problem with them kicking her out of her house in the middle of an apocalypse and that her friends--who she died for and whose lives she saved again and again, as Spike reminds us--were all okay with that. I hate the writing for that. It makes me hate Dawn, and I love Dawn, and so it makes me bitter.

Also then there is Spike telling Buffy she's awesome.

True, true!

Where did all the Potentials go that night? Are they having a camp-out in the backyard with Andrew?

Hahaha! I love the idea of that! And he's telling them stories! *loves Andrew*

I actually kind of like all the sexy stuff (though I think it went on far too long--I didn't need to see all of it) because it's completely undermined as meaningful. Like, you see all these people just getting it on because they're scared they're going to die, not because they have any emotional connection. And then there's Buffy and Spike, with this really deep, beautiful emotional connection, and all they do is hold each other and look into each others' eyes. I feel like it kind of sends home the message that meaningless sex is...meaningless. And that commitment and selflessness are what love is really about. And I love that.

I'm both excited and sad . . . no more clever bon mots from Housemate! Well, you could always make her watch Angel next (and make the emphatic suggestion that she watch it for everyone but Angel - that way, when he's really good, you can be surprised by it, and when he's acting douchey or like the King of Pain, you can wave your hand and ignore, because you're totally just watching it for Cordelia/Wes/Gunn/Lindsey/Lilah/Fred/Lorne/Connor, etc.).

Heh. Actually, I believe we're both a bit relieved to have our weekends freed up. There are other things we might occasionally like to do/watch... *g*
