Three Degrees of Spike

It's Oscar Month over at still_grrr, so (1) I was browsing the Wikipedia list of all the Oscar-winning films ever.

This led me to (2) Der Fuehrer's Face, an anti-Nazi Disney short that somehow never made it into the compilations of Disney shorts I grew up on. It features quite the song, which goes like this (but which must be seen to be properly appreciated - beware the period racism):

Turns out, (3) Spike sang a part of this song in an issue of the short comic series Spike vs. Dracula.

Okee dokee, then. Still looking for that still_grrr inspiration to hit. (And I still want to do something with Disney shorts. They were a major part of my imaginative landscape as a kid.)

Question for the old-time fans

What was the initial fannish response to Dawn when she just appeared in S5? Did people think Joss was off his nut? Was there a lot of discussion about the foreshadowy dream in Graduation Day?

The housemate and I just watched Buffy vs. Dracula and Real Me, and she is quite frustrated with the non-explanation thus far.

Also, RE Buffy vs. Dracula: I need an icon of Xander that says, "Strange and Off-Putting."

First, the masterlist for the Willow round at genfic_minis is up. There's some neat stuff there. I was particularly struck by brutti_ma_buoni's lovely reimagining of Willow pre-S7, What Comes Next, and snowpuppies's highly effective horror piece The Slow Slide Into..., but there's plenty more.

dollsome, I've just discovered, writes the of kind elegant, character-rich Dollhouse fic that I've been looking for and couldn't find until now. She writes primarily DeWitt/Dominic. I started with One's Your Foe and One's Your Flame, an AU one-shot off "A Spy in the House of Love" (possibly still my favorite DH ep), but there's lots more.

And, remember when I was looking for a trove of "Restless" icons, but couldn't remember where I'd seen them? I should have known it was ruuger. The batch I was thinking of are all here, including Miss Kitty Fantastico. Yay.
