See what I mean? The girl has a special talent for showing up at a show's lowest (BtVS S4, Ats S1, Ats S4, BtVS S7) and just sparking the thing to life. She's a force of nature, she is.

Aw, Connor's a Faith fanboy. And who can blame him?

"If anybody's going to kill Angelus, it's me, not you." This jives perfectly with my grasp of how Faith feels about Angel at this point. I've always figured if there was a scenario post-NFA when Angelus was loose again and had to be put down, Faith would argue her right to kill him this time, and eventually Buffy would agree. (It'd probably take some Spike-coaxing, though. "Let her have her turn this time, love." Because he knows killing Angel(us) is one more burden Buffy just doesn't need, and let's face it, Spike's a bit partisan when it comes to Buffy. This way she can dump all her feelings on Faith instead of on herself, which at the juncture I'm imagining would be a much-needed safety valve for Buffy.)

Gah, the chemistry. Faith/Wesley, Faith/Gunn, and Faith/Connor - is there are a gaggle of shippy Faith fic from this era that I've just never noticed? And if not, why not?

Also, Calvary: the Lilah and Wes/Lilah bits were good. Couldn't have cared less about the rest.

Okay, two more eps to go of FAITH BEING EXCELLENT.

Faith/Door? She and Spike can have chemistry with just about anybody. Mmmmmm. I'm glad you're liking the Faith. I think you're right that she would have to be the one to take down Angelus. Maybe she and Spike together, both trying to shield Buffy from doing it. Then there could be weirdness between Buffy and Spike, who had been so happy up until then...

Oh, so you are watching after all!

I approve of your mad Faith appreciation. Girl is the bomb.

There is NOT ENOUGH. But oh, oh, I am sort of writing some Faith/Wes at the mo. Favorite ship that never happened. Possibly the world could not have handled it.

Well, least there is Wes/Lilah to soothe my grief.

Oh, yes, I'm committed to watching the Faith episodes. No hardship there. *g*

Ooh. Very interesting. Yanno, I think I'm willing to ship Wes with almost any girl except Fred. Cordelia, Faith, Illyria (although she pushes the definition of 'girl' a bit), Buffy, conceivably even Dawn. Just not Fred.

Alexis Denisof is just great with everyone. I am inclined to put the unsuccessful-ness of Wes/Fred down to bad writing as opposed to bad chemistry because really, nobody can say that Denisof and Acker did not work well together.

I suppose. I don't know that the writing was bad so much as it was seemingly designed in every way possible to lead to anti-shipping. Wes's obsessiveness and lack of respect for Fred and Gunn's relationship, the murderous rage role he's given in "Waiting in the Wings," all of "Billy": all very much a picture of a guy who very much should not get the girl of his dreams. Spike's shrine and Buffy-stalking really have nothing on Wes (although largely, I suppose, because Spike was rather bad at the creepy stalker thing and Wes is disturbingly good at it).

And also there's the part where I don't like Fred. I don't mind her with Gunn, and out of everyone they're the ones that seem to have the best chance at a functional relationship (which the show seems to chuck overboard via character motivations I don't really get), but I pretty much just don't care about Fred or any of her relationships.

I tend to agree (with all of it). I guess after "Billy" I was certain we were going to get a very twisted/angsty anti-romance of sorts between Wes and Fred, rather than the apparent ~true love story we did get. If that's what they were going for, they did it rather badly.

which the show seems to chuck overboard via character motivations I don't really get

Huh. You mean Gunn killing Seidel so Fred wouldn't? I thought that was in-character. Fred and Gunn had a much more functional relationship than most everyone else, but there was still a fair amount of idealization of the other from either side. And once Fred realized Gunn couldn't accept/understand that her rage/need for vengeance was part of her, I guess she could no longer believe that he really loved her.

As far as I'm concerned, there were lots of other, better opportunities for twisted/angsty anti-romance for Wes. Wes/Faith and Wes/Illyria for two (although of course most of the angst of Wes/Illyria comes from the Wes/Fred backstory).

Re: Gunn killing Seidel, I should mention that my grasp of S4 is still pretty spotty, despite spoilers, and although I saw Supersymmetry I don't remember it very well. So it is perhaps not surprising that the characterization is a little hazy. *g*

It... is possible this is actually straight out of a WIP-in-my-head. Which may or may not ever be written down, because it'd require me to write Angelus, and I'm just not sure I'm up to it.

Haha, that's actually what prevented my "Spike takes care of Angelus for Buffy" fic from ever going anywhere. Except I think they would've resouled him eventually, so Spike didn't have to stake him.

In my fic, there'd be no resouling. (Of Spike, either; it'd be the post-series Buffy/soulless!Spike fic I've always wanted.)
