Further ventures in fannish evangelism

(Now Ex-)Housemate confessed to me on the phone the other day that she thinks she's become a Buffy fan. Are we surprised? I am unsurprised.

Meanwhile NuRoommate has been coming to the conclusion that all this fanfic stuff is maybe not the juvenile enterprise she thought. I'd convinced her that possibly it had some merit and she'd read a couple of things I pointed her to, but a couple of days ago she said, "Did you know there's Battlestar Galactica fanfiction?" (If I ever get around to watching BSG, it will be her fault.) And then today, breathlessly, "Did you know there's Gilmore Girls fanfiction?!? It's like having another episode of the show that never got written!"

I do believe we have a convert.

Yay! Converts! I'd always be so embarrassed during my religion classes when I'd have to confess to the prof that I've converted more people to television shows than to Christianity. Good to know I'm not alone!

Here's Dollsome's Gilmore Girl's fic. Seriously excellent. The voices are perfect and it's incredibly hard to write proper Gilmore Girls banter, but she nails it.

There's something really wonderful about getting to know all the talented authors. It makes it so easy to rec good stuff. Dollsome is my go-to for fic because it seems like she's written everything and everything she writes feels perfect.

I'm so glad to hear that Housemate, who we enjoyed BtVS vicariously through (wow, was that garbled syntax or what?) for so long, is still a fan!

And any time I can convince people that fanfic isn't as weird/creepy/pointless/stupid/immoral as they think it is is a good day.
