I think the only thing that could make this better is MOAR PENGUINS!

Honestly, S8 has a much higher percentage of crack, I think. But IDW's OOC-ness re: character makes me more upset because it seems to completely negate Spike's journey, which is rage inducing. *sigh* So much fail.

Yeah. It's easier to just laugh at S8. S8 is silly, but IDW's Spike stuff is wrong. (Then again, most everybody cares more about S8 than I do; I realize plenty of people think S8 is wrong in places, too.)

I think maybe it's an external vs. internal thing. The Buffyverse is so cracky and inconsistent that I hold almost nothing dear except the characters. So things that happen *to* them (S8) are silly, and I kind of don't care. I'm fundamentally rather a fan of crack, after all. But things the characters *do* (IDW) matter very much indeed.

Or I may be totally making this up.

No, I actually know exactly what you're talking about, though I will say that I am concerned to see how they'll handle Buffy's characterization toward the end of S8 and there's some gender!fail there that upsets me. But yeah, the external cracky stuff doesn't make me angry--when they don't pull it off, it just sort of makes me roll my eyes. Fundamental misunderstandings of characterization is another thing entirely.

I find it pretty easy to laugh at both equally. But I think I laugh AND rage about S8, whereas IDW stopped mattering to me when After the Fall ended, so I just laugh.

Puffins just don't get the publicity. When people think of the Antarctic, what are they gonna think of? Ice and penguins. They have penguins at our local aquarium. I'd like to say I took these photos because I just like penguins so much. but it's really because I knew someday I'd spam my f-list with them. If I ever go back, I plan on getting some better-quality photos and really going crazy with ths storytelling.

Well... I think that there are plenty of circumstances under which soulless Spike would find it great fun to torture a woman he'd just had sex with. (The false prophecy come true thing, though, that's just silly.)

I think the difference for me is that IDW seems to have a really fascinating premise that's been handled badly, by having Spike act juvenile rather than just a subtle loss of moral compass. Whereas DH has... well... pure crack.

Having read the preview pages in question, I'd say the false prophecy thing is even sillier in execution than in theory, if you can imagine.

I went with penguins! Sure S8 has stories that make no sense and IDW has rampant OOCness, but... penguins! Joss'd never go there. Also I like to think that anything they can do, we can do better. *nods*

I have to say I voted penguin. Not because the other two aren't cracky beyond belief, but I see penguin, I vote penguin. That's just how it is.
