Choosing my own favorite was extremely difficult. It depends on the day, and even just today there are about five.
I finally settled on this one: one of
indulging_breck's clever juxtapositions of image and dialogue from the same episode. It's from "School Hard," of course, and Buffy's talking to Spike, but I love it because I can as easily apply the line to Buffy herself, first in S2 (oh, Angelus arc of utter angst!) and then for her entire Slayer career. As often as she rebuilds herself piece by piece, Slaying shatters her again. There are moments of triumph, but also a great deal of brokeness.
(Of course, the line is also prescient about the nature of Spike's experiences with the Slayer - lots and lots of pain. However, since Buffy's the one pictured, I don't tend to think of the icon as being about him.)
All that from a cap and one line that was about something else entirely in canon.
On a visual level, the completely washed-out color gives Buffy a very ghostly, ethereal appearance that I really like.

(For honorable mentions, I also really like your Firefly "finding home" and "family" icons, and for something completely different I love the lighting in the cap of your XF - skeptic icon.)

Date: 2010-05-22 12:32 pm (UTC)I think I'm going to have to go with this one:
This, despite the fact that I've never even seen an episode of Community. And I don't like animated icon pretty much ever. It's just, she's so cute!
Honorable mention goes to your Crackpot Genius icon, which is just... genius.

Honorable mention goes to your Buffy-in-Restless "Not in Kansas anymore" icon, just because I love icons of Restless, especially of the less common sequences.
