stuff and things
Apr. 4th, 2010 07:42 pm1. I forgot to thank
eowyn_315 for my sugary Easter bunny. Thank you, Eowyn!
2. Seraph has been nommed over at the Cover to Cover Buffy Awards, for best non-Spuffy characterization. See my shiny nominee button!

3. Housemate and I are into the meat of S6. This my first rewatch of anything past "Tabula Rasa." The first time through I did everything from "Smashed" to the end in one long marathon session because I just couldn't stop. Whereas this second time... it's exactly the same. I have no trouble pausing in the middle of any of the other seasons, but this one just pulls me and won't let go. Is it just me?

Date: 2010-04-05 08:53 am (UTC)What usually stops me is having to change the DVD, and I think non-american people have a bit of a problem with marathon watching; but I'm totally with you in spirit!

Date: 2010-04-05 11:44 am (UTC)Not just you. In spite of how awful parts of season 6 make us feel, it's hard to look away from a season that had so many ups and downs. (Mostly downs, but....)

Date: 2010-04-05 07:18 pm (UTC)Heh. My first rewatch of S5 paused for a long time before I finally decided skipping "The Body" was allowed. OTOH, "Amends" has all that Oz/Willow adorableness and a wee bit of Faith/Summers household bonding...

Date: 2010-04-05 01:54 pm (UTC)S6 just sucks me in. GAH I LOVE IT.
I feel like my viewing of the show is so skewed: I watch different parts of S6 and 7 over and over and over again, with a few specific episodes from S5 and 4 thrown in. I almost never revisit the earlier seasons. Weird, huh?

Date: 2010-04-05 07:27 pm (UTC)I think there's going to be monster post of conflicted S6 opinions once the rewatch is over. I can't wait to read your response and hear why you love it.
I've ended up rewatching S2 a bunch of times, partly because that's usually the season I use to introduce people to the show. Then I rewatched S4 like crazy for Seraph purposes (which amuses me, since pre-Seraph it was one of my least favorite seasons, and now I like it quite a bit). And then I rewatch parts of S5 pretty regularly, plus OMWF.
The thing is, I'm realizing that while I'm a sucker for the angst&woe the first time through, when it comes to rewatching I really want happier, lighter fare. It's true for movies, too. So I like S4 and large parts of S2 just for the light-heartedness. We get our heart torn out so rarely in S4! Also, light-heartedness is generally self-contained in one episode, whereas to get the full angst impact one has to watch a bunch of eps in a row for that cumulative effect.
Also, please to be noting that all those seasons are Spike seasons; much as I love Faith, I just never get around to rewatching S3 as often...

Date: 2010-04-05 07:30 pm (UTC)I do love to rewatch 4! Happy times! And hilarity!
S3 is boring. There are some good episodes, but I think people are mostly so distracted by Faith (and the Mayor, who are awesome, it's true) that they don't realize how much of it is bogged down by pointless B/A angst and just slow in other areas.

Date: 2010-04-05 07:35 pm (UTC)You're right though - the B/A angst reeeally drags.
