I've been planning on a big long commentary on the whys and hows of writing Seraph, and I'm not just sure when I'll have time to write it. But when/if I do, what would you like me to talk about?
Question, the first. When is the sequel coming out? [/jk]
Question, the second. You spent a lot of time on Dawn angsting about Spike's evil nature. How did you think about redemption in a Spuffy-less (and soul-less) story? How far can Spike go in this environment? If he really can't get past the "who cares if I ate a random stranger guy" stage, what sort of problems does that pose for him as a loving, but morally tone deaf Dad?
Question, the third. You sure about no sequel?
Question, the fourth. How about the sprog's name?
Question, the fifth. Do you have in your mind how the story actually played out in the Dawn-less world? (One of my favorite things about your fic is the part where you say Spike remembers it as Dawn being there, but realizing that in reality it must have been someone else, but that would seem to be hard to really totally follow through on).
Thanks for creating a BtVS alternate reality that is captivating and sweet. Your voices are great, and it's so lovely to see them all acting so decently to one another -- and in a plausible way (big bonus!).
Who is Spike's morality role model since he's sans soul? I think his daughter is all the motivation he'd ever need to want to stay on the straight and narrow, but wanting and knowing how to do it are two very different things. :)
I'm curious about the conflict between masculinity and pregnancy, and how Spike seemed to handle it better than Xander did. Is this because the pregnancy eventually grew on him, or because he's more adaptive than Xander is?
I too would like more hints on what happens after they take the baby home. One of the things I loved about the story was that Spike was utterly unprepared for parenthood, but desperate to do it right. Now that the baby is here, how well does he manage on sheer willpower? How does the Summers+Spike+Baby household function when things settle down? Does Spike panic over every developmental milestone? Does baby realize that stakes are great teething toys? And what kind of challenges does a Victorian-born vampire have with parenthood in the early 21st century?
As for the baby's name, I call her Seraph in my head :)
