Deep searching question...
Oct. 13th, 2009 06:07 pm...to Yuletide or not to Yuletide? My gosh do I really not have time. But, but, I had so much fun last year. It's quite the challenge to match the requestee's prompts. And, let's face it, I love getting stuff written for me.
So...?
Phooey.

Date: 2009-10-14 12:55 am (UTC)I've always wanted to do Yuletide, but never had the nerve. I did remix this year, and was kind of disappointed, so that's not making me more like to do Yuletide, I'm afraid. And I've also sworn off any more fic challenges until I get my 2 WIPs done.

Date: 2009-10-14 01:03 am (UTC)This was my first year for remix, and it was... interesting. I think perhaps as an author I'm not a good fit for remix, even though I really love the idea of other people remixing my stuff. Oh, well.
One of the biggest draws of Yuletide, on the other hand, is writing in poor little ol' fandoms that get very little fannish love. It's such a great variety of stuff.
However, I do very much encourage the finishing of "Better Late Than Never," because I'm really liking that one so far. :)

Date: 2009-10-14 03:45 am (UTC)And never fear, I have never left a fic unfinished. But this one is taking me longer than most. Lots of real life interruptions. I was just getting on a roll again when we up and moved. Hopefully I'll have time to write more soon. (and thank you - glad you're enjoying it!)
The Yuletide exchange really appeals to me, but I'm not sure how many little fandoms I'd be able to write in. ::ponders::

Date: 2009-10-14 11:59 am (UTC)And there's definitely a different atmosphere to writing fic for Yuletide. It's not, "Have I obsessed over this canon long enough to be confident in writing it?" It's, "Do I remember liking this canon well enough to read/watch it again and write something from it?"
All of which isn't to pressure you to sign up. But it is lots of fun. :)
