Meme snagged from gabrielleabelle: Choose one of my icons (by keyword) and I'll tell you something about it. Or probably several somethings. In fact, I'll probably natter on a bit, because it turns out I'm a little obsessed with shiny graphics in small sizes.

This icon was made by the fabulous orangelusik, whose icon posts I always pore over, looking for goodies. It's from the first scene of the Giles segment of Restless. Oddly, all the Buffy-only icons I have loaded are from Restless; I have no idea what to make of that. Sometimes I use this icon to express amusement or happiness, but more often it's just my default icon for when I'm talking about non-angsty Buffy.

I love that, according to the audio commentary, these shots of SMG are basically spontaneous - in order to get real smiles out of her, Joss made faces behind the camera when she wasn't expecting them.

I love the way the icon is cut into vertical not-quite-thirds. I love the weird green background - it does lovely things to her hair. It's just pretty.

I do love spontaneous shots of SMG laughing. Buffy so rarely gets to smile, especially in the later seasons. It's lovely.

Yeah. I just rewatched "Real Me" the other day, and was getting a kick out of the "Harmony has minions? Harmony has minions?" scene, because I can't remember any other time when Buffy looked that carefree for that long a stretch.

Yay, Spike&Dawn! As you know, Bob, this was made by ruuger, one of my very favorite icon makers. Lately I've been using it mainly to signal deep, significant Spike&Dawn interaction in Seraph (as opposed to the "up to no good" ruuger icon I use for fluffier interaction), but it's also great for just general Spike&Dawn love.

I think you could pretty much sell me on any icon from this screencap. The shot is just so classic, so clearly monster stories being told around the campfire. I love the lantern. Just the framing of the shot is perfect (and with perfect cropping on ruuger's part, too).

Most of all, I just love them: Spike and Dawn, "weird friendless kids" as the text says (any idea what it says underneath?). They've clearly both made themselves comfortable, they're both totally into the conversation, and it's pretty clear that, for at least this moment, they enjoy each other's company. Friends, in the unlikeliest of places.

There can never, ever be enough Spike&Dawn love in the world. My single biggest regret about S7 is that they never get their relationship back on track again. I think they need each other.

I don't know what the text says, but I wish I did! Regardless, you named all the reasons I love that icon, too!

Yanno, I have so many issues with S7, up to and including how the writers handled Spike himself, that the lack of Spike&Dawn just kind of gets lost in the shuffle for me.

Yeah. As I told someone else at some point, she gets someone who treats her like a person in her own right, and he gets someone who actually likes him. It breaks my heart and gives me warm fuzzies all at the same time.

I meant to ask you for a quick overview of your problems with how they handled Spike (no obligation, but I'm interested). I have tons of problems with S7 in general, but I tend to like the stuff about my two favs--Spike and Buffy, obviously, and also Dawn as well--that I forgive the way it failed, say, Anya or Xander or Giles or whoever.
