Yay! I've been wanting to do this pretty much ever since I first heard of it, but last year I didn't have enough fic to qualify.

That's an interesting idea. It's kinda too bad the plot has to remain the same because there's some stories where I would completely change the ending. If you get BTVS I'll be interested in seeing what you do.

I suspect I shall probably get BtVS; the only other fandoms I offered for were Angel, Firefly, and Dollhouse, and I listed Buffy as my first choice. And I'll definitely be posting it here to my journal when it's done!

In terms of changing things, I think it's possible to make huge changes in tone while keeping the events the same. Like, have you ever seen the Kevin Kline / Michelle Pfeiffer / Stan Tucci version of A Midsummer Night's Dream? All the usual dialogue, but Bottom (Kline) is played as this tragic, rather fragile dreamer who finds and loses his life's desire in Titania. The ending is definitely bittersweet.

And that's the fun, right? To take whatever I get and play madly with it. *g*

Hey, Liz Marcs managed to kill off one of the main characters pre-fic and still have him walking around and having the same conversation he'd had in the original story...

Walking Higher

It's longish, but trust me - it's very worth reading. Especially once you hit part 3...

LOL! My problem is, I don't do deadlines even when I can write whatever I want, so the added pressure of having a limited selection of starting points might just make my head explode.

I kinda want to try it, though.

See, I am so much more motivated if I'm writing for someone, rather than the nebulous readers at large. I mean, only occasionally - I couldn't take the pressure on a regular basis. But every so often it's great fun to know that there's at least one particular person who will (hopefully) like a fic because it's geared especially to them.

And besides, I think having the field narrowed a bit from 'whatever I want' helps, too.

I think my problem is a lack of control - I very rarely commit to writing something (either a prompt or a ficathon), because it's completely unpredictable whether the "muse" or whatever you want to call it will be cooperative. No matter how much I may want to write something, if the idea's not there, and if it's not setting my brain on fire, nothing gets written. (Which is why I haven't written anything new since OCTOBER. Please pause while I pull all my hair out.)

I hate to disappoint people, so I'd rather not promise something I won't be able to deliver. I already have two WIPs and one outstanding prompt that I have NO idea what to do with.

Is one of those the Ats S5 longfic (she asked wistfully)? I would so love to see your muse start being inspirational about that one - I was in tears (wet, actual tears) during the Spike-Angel wrestling "She never really loved me" scene.

Yep, that's one of them. The problem I ran into was that I had the Spuffy arc pretty much mapped out, but then I realized that it was nothing but various permutations of Buffy/Angel/Spike talking heads, which is... kinda boring, from a storytelling perspective.

So I decided I needed an external plot for them to be occupied with while all the conversations were happening, but I never came up with one. I might throw it to Team Eowyn for brainstorming at some point.

Also - awwww, thanks!

Oh boy. I just signed up for this. I'm slightly scared by it. Can I blame you? You're the reason I knew where to go lol. This feels like those times when I'd make myself jump off the highboard even though I'm terrified of heights.

Hey, they signed up for it. It's their problem.

Actually, looking at all my finished fic, I'm realizing how lacking in plot most of my fics are. They're mostly just conversations, and an occasional internal monologue. Interesting to see what someone makes of that.

Ooh! And it just came to me, exactly what fic of yours I'd remix if I got you. Which I can't tell, of course. ;)

Oh well now you're just torturing me. Why can't you tell? Is it a rule to keep it secret? I guess I should have read the sign-up more carefully - eep!

Tell tell!

I just brought over my [livejournal.com profile] seasonal_spuffy entry "Sad Song in His Heart" to my LJ (had just left it at the community til now) so whoever gets me has another finished choice to work with.

Er, I don't think *that's* a rule, although I'm assuming we're not supposed to tell who we're assigned to - you know, so as not to spoil the surprise at all. Then again, I may just be thinking of the extreme secrecy of Yuletide.

Are you sure you want to know? 'Cuz I could get assigned to you and still change my mind...

Yes do tell. :) I'm wickedly curious now even if you did get me and changed your mind.

I'd totally love to remix that Lorne/Darla drabble you wrote for me. I'm not sure what I'd do with it, exactly, because as with some of my fics, there isn't a lot of plot. But as soon as I gave you that prompt I realized just how much fun that pairing could be...

Of course, this is keeping in mind that I haven't actually looking at your fic listing... *g*

Oooo yes, that was one of my favorite drabbles to come out of that meme. That would be very cool to remix.

Of course, this is keeping in mind that I haven't actually looking at your fic listing... *g*

Lol! Well I have them all tagged as fic for ease in finding them, though no masterlist yet.
