Dollhouse poll
May. 21st, 2009 01:53 pmSo, we have another half-season, yay! Right up until the "Omega" I didn't care too much if the show continued or not, but those last ten minutes or so opened up so much new potential in and between characters. What's to become of Saunders now? I am going to be totally fascinated if she carries on, knowing what she knows. That little exchange with Saunders and Topher opened up whole new realms of Topher exploration. I lurve the Boyd+Ballard dynamic, and think the two of them together might tease out much more interesting moral nuances than either of them could alone.
So, in honor of the renewal, a very simple poll, because I haven't really wandered into Dollhouse fandom and thus have no idea what the general fannish opinions are.

Date: 2009-05-21 10:21 pm (UTC)And the thing I love about Boyd and Ballard is that they both have these objections to the Dollhouse, and yet here they both are working for it - we already know there's some self-loathing in each of them, and they probably each feel some of that same disgust for the other guy. They're basically in agreement that Dollhouse=bad, but I suspect that they're coming from vastly different philosophical positions, and would have vastly different solutions. And I think it'll be a lot easier to explore all that in each of them with another character who's at least superficially sympathetic to their views.
Plus, I just like the two competent cops running around, being cops. :)

Date: 2009-05-22 02:04 am (UTC)Huh, I was actually kind of the opposite. I had almost worked my way up to being excited about Dollhouse in the episode before this (whose title I can't remember), and I thought the whole Alpha/Omega thing had a lot of potential, but then they totally squandered it, and at the end of the episode, when Echo is basically right back where she started at the beginning of the series, I was back to not caring.
The Saunders stuff does really intrigue me, but since she's only a recurring character, I can't imagine it'll be the main focus of the next season, so it feels a little like watching Buffy just for Tara, you know?

I'm not really invested in them finding out who they are or any romantic ships... and I'm somewhat concerned that any further character development for Sierra will involve Joss coming up with new and inventive ways to abuse the poor girl. :-P
