snick_backup1. Why are most of the characters only children? Aside from the Dawn-insert, we have Joyce with a sister named Arlene, Tara with her brother Donnie, Andrew with his brother Tucker, and... that's all I can think of. Statistically, are middle-class folks in California more likely to be only children than middle-class folks in other parts of the country? Were siblings just too much work for the writers to deal with? Is this a common phenomenon in ensemble TV shows?
2. [Overgeneralization] How come all the male characters can drive and all the female characters can't? In S4, we have Spike, Oz, Giles, Xander, and Riley who can drive, and on the female side of the equation we have... Joyce. It's much less obvious on TV than it is in my fic, because people walk more than they drive, but still.
