BSG: The Woman King and A Day in the Life
Mar. 12th, 2011 08:04 pmThe Woman King
In which we learn that racism is bad and Helo is good. This was one of the stupider recent episodes in terms of larger context and character continuity; why would you put a bunch of refugees on the fleet's sole military vessel? Why especially when you've got an epidemic on your hands?
And then there's the the bit where Helo goes to Adama, Tigh, and Cottle and voices his suspicions about Dr. Robert, and Adama's response is, "Stop making these unfounded allegations and do your job." Yes, Adama. Because, as we all know, Helo is all about haring off and making unfounded allegations and flouting his duty. Those're, like, his defining characteristics. Yup. *boggles*
Best thing about this ep: a smidgen of a scene between Sharon and Caprica Six - who's still seeing Gaius in her head! Yay! I want much more Caprica Six, please.
Also, Roslin/Zarek, y/y? I think I ship it.
A Day in the Life
Black Market was bad. Unfinished Business, AKA the boxing episode, was bad. But right here, folks, we have the most utterly useless episode yet. The writers spend yet more time flaunting their utter incompetence about flashbacks, Bill Adama wanders around in a mood, and we hear enough Tyrol/Callie squabbling to make us hope she never makes it out of that hyperbaric chamber.
Also, maybe I'm being stupid about the physics, but if all the air is venting out the airlock, why does it get so cold inside the airlock? It's not like there's cold air rushing in from the outside; it's vacuum out there. That's the whole point of the pressure differential. What am I missing here?
About the best I can say about this ep is that Kara is magically her vivacious S1 self in it. I wish she'd keep that up.

Yanno, "Downloaded" was excellent, and there's been some other interesting stuff with the Cylons and the base star, but overall I haven't been really excited about this show since we got back from Kobol. It's just dragging. If I were watching this on my own, I'd probably take an indefinite hiatus right about here and never come back.
