It seems Willow and Kennedy have broken up. Much of fandom is jubilating (or whatever that verb form is); a few folks are feeling sad at the fannish glee over the dissolution of their beloved ship.
But, consider: As of now, how many ships in the Buffyverse are still together? Dawn/Xander. How long have they been around? Um, a few issues.
When BtVS ended, how many couples were still together? Willow/Kennedy and Faith/Robin. How long had they been around? Less than half a season each. Both are ended now.
When Serenity ended, how many couples were still together? Simon/Kaylee (who had just barely hooked up as the credits rolled), with intimations of Mal/Inara.
When Ats ended, how many couples were still together? Not a durn one.
When Dollhouse ended, how many couples were still together? Wonder of wonders, Tony/Priya, child and hope and all. What was Joss thinking? (Also Echo/Ballard, in a rather less functional 'til death do us part' scenario.)
My point? Joss can't abide healthy, functional relationships. MUST KILL. (Literally, if possible.)
Don't get complacent, Dawn/Xander shippers. It's your turn next.
