in which I am weird, and also colorful

snick_backupWhen I think of characters, I often associate them with colors, especially when I'm thinking about ships.
Cordelia I usually think of as pink (though not always), and Xander's yellow. Pink/yellow - okay, that works.
But sometimes Cordelia is a purplish gray, like clouds at sunset, and Oz is the golden orange around the clouds at sunset, I suspect because of his hair. I know this because I was driving towards a sunset last night and I thought to myself, "Oh, it's Cordelia and Oz." Not that I ship orange/purplish-gray, but then I don't ship Oz/Cordelia either (except possibly as BFF, because that would be fabulous).
Drusilla's lavender, with occasional infusions of crimson (which I'm pretty sure is thematic).
Buffy is usually blue.
Dawn is a pale purple and Ethan is a rich purply-browny gray. Purple/purply-browny gray is kind of an interesting combination, which may be why I'm intrigued by the idea of Dawn/Ethan.
Faith/Giles is weird - Faith is brown and Giles is brown, but when I think of them together I get brown with hints of green. It has a sort of rich, soothing effect when I think of it.
Spike is red, except when he's an ugly washed-out yellow (which I'm pretty sure comes from his hair color).
Willow by herself is green, but Willow with anyone else is a deep reddish auburn, like her hair. Red hair is notoriously hard to match colors with, which may be why I have so much trouble shipping her with anyone.
It isn't predictive, though. I very much like pink and brown together, but I am not in the least interested in Cordy/Giles. (Except, maybe later? When she's matured but before she dies? Hmm? Okay, somebody write me this.)
Harmony is pink and Clem is pink. Is this why I suddenly think Harmony/Clem is a good idea?
In case you were wondering: no, I did not just pull this out of the air. My brain actually thinks this way. Next week, how when I go clothes shopping all the colors make me think of candies.
