I've been reading a real hodgepodge of stuff lately. Have some!
The Nature of Dust, by
inkvoices - Marvel comics/MCU circus AU - Clint/Natasha - 10k
I'm not much for Clint/Natasha, but on the other hand CIRCUS AU. And not just any circus AU, but one during the Depression era in a world just a tidge more magical than ours. Clint, for example, sees the nature of things. Clint and Natasha are different enough from either comic or movie canon for their relationship to work for me, and work it does.
In terms of canon, this is actually a bit of a hodgepodge - Clint is the strong silent type here, which I gather is MCU fanon but at any rate certainly doesn't come from any comic I've read, but on the other hand the third most important character is Clint's BFF Bobbi Morse, who's strictly comics. Either way, no prior canon knowledge required.
And Suddenly I'm With You by
silverfoxflower - MCU - Jane/Sif - 2.1k
Jane was sure that she was living every high school girl’s dream: she had an acceptance from Harvard in her back pocket, her Science Olympiad team just made nationals, and she was dating Shield High’s biggest football star.
Because Jane the science prodigy and Sif the star kicker is the most adorable HS AU ever. And then there's femslashy smoochies.
Interdimensional Incident by
copperbadge - MCU - Steve/Sif - 10k
In which Steve admires Sif from afar, Thor connives that they spend time together, and everyone gossips. The Warriors Three also hang around a lot and express their enthusiasm for Midgard customs in great booming voices. The larger group dynamic here was at least as much fun as the Steve/Sif.
A worthy quotation:
And Sea Adds Salt, by
pendency - Dragon Age - Isabela/Fenris - 7.6k (so far)
I don't know Dragon Age from a hole in the ground, but I was browsing for het mpreg on AO3, and lo! Here's the thing: this is het mpreg with pirates. Isabela is a pirate captain, Fenris is an elf ex-slave and her lover, and they're both trying to put themselves back together after a war. These are harsh people who've lived harsh lives, and even their present affection is sharp with rough edges. And then there's surprise seahorsey mpreg that neither of them is too sure about. :DDD
It's a bit stiff, piecing together the backstory, but the present is pretty excellent. WIP, alas, but the first chapter is quite readable on its own.
This world, it still has something, by
storiesfortravellers - SPN - Dean/Ellen - 6.5k
I was browsing the Dean/Ellen tag on AO3, as one does, and stumbled across this gem. In an Endverse-like world where Jo and Ellen are alive (again), Dean spends a lot of time around Ellen looking shifty, and a while after that longing, and then there's sex. It's pretty fabulous.
The fic is set in chapters, but actually the first 'chapter' comprises the main fic; the other two are kinky timestamps. They're good kinky timestamps, though. A lot of fem!dom, and some switching and temperature play, and so on. But the first chapter is the part I especially recommend.

A worthy quotation:
Thor stopped Clint outside the gym, a large hand on his chest.
"Do not enter now," he said firmly.
"Why?" Clint asked.
"Reasons," Thor said, and crossed his arms. Clint looked up at him, eyes narrowed, and then backtracked down the hallway.
"I did not think that would work," Thor said to himself, cheerfully, and continued to stand guard.

Date: 2013-08-31 07:28 am (UTC)Intrigued by the pirate het mpreg. I know that Dragon Age is a game, and that is about all I know. I expect there are dragons in it somewhere.
That Thor quote is, indeed, quite fantastic :D.

Date: 2013-08-31 03:11 pm (UTC)Presumably there must be dragons somewhere in the Dragon Age game, but there aren't any mention of them in the fic. I managed to piece together most of the relevant character info from the fic itself, although one fact it is really useful to know and not explicitly mentioned in the fic is that the main couple is interspecies - Fenris is an elf, and Isabela is human. Wikipedia told me this. :)

Date: 2013-09-01 12:11 am (UTC)Yeah, the interspecies bit explained to me the why of certain reactions late in the chapter - apparently when elves and humans procreate together, the method is reproduction follows the male's species. (Er, in this AU. The seahorse thing isn't canon. :) )

Date: 2013-08-31 03:14 pm (UTC)Is that Steve/a particular waitress? I've only seen each of his movies (CA and Avengers) once, so I don't remember her.
