1. Finished the first season of Leverage, finally. Yes, it took me something like three months to watch the last two episodes, because I couldn't handle the looming suspense of Two! Part! Finale! (Sometimes I despair of myself.) But in fact the episodes involved very little of the impending doom I was worried about. I clapped with glee several times! I adore Maggie Collins with all that is in me! Hardison and Parker and Eliot continue to delight!

However, I don't know if I just want Sophie Devereaux to be a completely different character than the writers want her to be, or what, because I continue to be disappointed in her. She tries to set up a con for the team that nets her a little something on the side, and it backfires. And she... apologizes, sort of, despite herself. She feels bad about it, and they get things smoothed out, and the team moves on.

But. But if she's going to steal things on the side, then I want to see her take joy in it! Clearly she doesn't need the money, based on what we see in her warehouse, so could we maybe see a little avarice here? Some pleasure in the con? Something? As it is, we frame her choice as an addiction, but it's the first I've noticed such a thing.

Summary: Sophie Devereaux continues to be the character whose handling I find most infuriating and yet whose potential I am most interested in. Argh.

Also if I must ship Nate Ford with someone, please oh please can it be his ex-wife, because she is THE BEST. I want her ALWAYS.

This show is like cotton candy. Airy, no nutritional value, and yet so very enjoyable.

2. Also finished the second season of Game of Thrones! Everything I have to say here is spoilery.

* the white walkers are the thrillingest zombies I have ever seen on film. What a great lead-up - two whole seasons, waiting for these guys to show, and they deliver. And I don't even like zombies. But seeing that army of wildlings and night guards both, shambling slowly south. *shiver* And the make-up was great. The horse!!!

* I hope we see Jaquen again. He was very interesting indeed. And I love these rare glimpses we get of magic, like him and his face.

* Theon Greyjoy is an idiot.

* Finally, after nine episodes, Dany gets to pwn again. W00t.

* Cersei is another aspect of the show that I feel the books must deal with in more depth. I hope. I feel as though we're barely grazing the surface of all that's going on with her. Or it may just be Lena Headey embuing her with all these layers, IDK. I certainly feel no similar interest in Jaime, whom I feel shares all her villainous qualities but none of her bitterly bridled passion.

* TYRION. STILL THE BEST. The heart and mind of this show, I am not even kidding. The scenes when he leads the battle because someone has to? The scene afterwards, when he's been cast aside like so much rubbish and Shae tells him he has a shit memory and he cries? *wibble wibble wibble*

* First on my list of crackships I want: Tyrion/Catelyn, if you please. I'm indifferent to the sexual component; I just want all the rage on her part and all the careful detachment on his part breaking down into some shattered mess of common experience. Possibly with a lot of calculation on both their parts. Yessssss.

3. I've discovered Echo Bazaar, a text-based browser game set in "a gothic Victorian London." It's one of those things where a story unfolds as you do things. It's free to play, and has quite a bit of style and flavor to it. My profile is here. Are any of you all playing? I want to know!
