apparently I can ship Castiel with people after all

I'm sort of Dean/Cas-adjacent in that a lot of my first SPN friends - from before I even got into the fandom - shipped it, and also I read a fair amount of fic, because the AU stuff is often full of tropey goodness. But try as I might, I don't care about them in a romantic sense. This season has given me a lot feelings about their canonical relationship, but even then, I'm much more interested in it as a non-romantic one. Adding sex and romance subtract interest for me.

But. It turns out I can totally ship prickly/sexy/fond/unsentimental/bitey Cas/Meg. (Yes. Definitely bitey.) And I can ship casual/fun/experimental Cas/Jo where he's uptight but curious and she's totally willing to show the hot, amusing weirdo the ropes - or just introduce him to cheesy 80s movies. Whichever.

They're neither of them epic, stop the presses ships; they're more about, ah, ships passing in the night and deriving some mutual satisfaction in the encounter. The types of satisfaction vary a little between the ships, but the basic idea's the same. Also there's an element of experienced!lady/inexperienced!guy about each of them, which I like.

Conclusion: I need ladies in my ships. News at 11.

Same here - I don't personal ship Dean/Cas sexually, but as far as their relationship in other respects? I absolutely love them together and find their friendship fascinating.

I can definitely see Meg biting and Cas being all 'why are you biting me?' then that look of understanding coming to his eyes. And Cas/Jo? That's an interesting one, but they would be adorable - I love Jo and inexperienced Cas is always fun.

I think Jo/Cas would be high on the adorable scale, yes. :) Actually, I don't see either of them being a particularly angsty ship, although of course you can pull Meg/Cas out of angsty circumstances, like in S6 when Cas is all conflicted and "I have to do this."

Outside of that mpreg fic I recced a couple of days ago, most of the Meg/Cas I've ever seen is straight porn. (This is probably my favorite of those.) I'm hopeful that some less sexually-focused stuff will get written as time goes on, though. Maybe it's time to try my hand myself. :)

Cas/Ellen has always been something I've wanted to see. Their brief scene doing shots together in Abandon All Hope had chemistry.

I started one, once, way back in the hiatus before s6, with Sheriff-of-Heaven Cas hanging out at Ellen's heaven Roadhouse and obsessing about Dean a bit and ending up falling into a relationship via the timehonored confiding in one's bartender route and kicking some ass together on the borders of Heaven. But I think I'm way too far from that canon moment to pick it up again.

I know the difference in human ages is probably not that perceptible to a billions of years old being, but for some reason I really like the idea of Cas with a human who is middle-aged in their own terms -- I've heard some people mention Cas/John, which would have a similar appeal to me, even though John was a much less balanced middle aged human than Ellen.

Thank you! I love the icon, except I feel a little weird that my other possibly-shippy Cas icon is framed very similarly, as you see. The man just has a very distinctive nose and chin!

He's got some great scenes with Anna, but I have trouble shipping them. They're both so hard to get their hands on. What would angel/angel romance or sex even look like? Unless they're both in their vessels.

AO3 is good for rarepairs in general, though (which I've especially noticed since I've been working on the newsletter). They don't get much attention there, but at least a person can find them! There's a Dean/Cas/Jo pirate!AU ficlet, for example, that's just adorable. I find it by looking up the D/C/Jo tag. :)
