* My brain may now at any time substitute "Jared" when I mean "Sam" and "Jensen" when I mean "Dean" (and logical vice-versas). *facepalm*

* I remembered the other point I wanted to make yesterday about RPF, which is: I know there are lots of fandoms that take a pairing or two from their canon and go crazy with werewolf AUs and space rebel AUs and what not, and I never cared about them before. The reason I care about the crack AUs now, with RPF, is that I don't give a fig about the canon. Er, 'canon.' This particular group of actors has kept on failing to disillusion me for a surprisingly long time, but I still do not know or care to know the details of their lives. Which means turning them all into space rebels doesn't offend my canon-purist sensibilities in the slightest. :D

* I have so many things I want to say about fics I am writing but cannot talk about! Grr.

* I'm back in that phase where by far the most interesting entertainment is fandom and/or writing. This means no TV recently. I've watched Mad Men through 2.03, I think, and I haven't watched anything else at all in ages. Except SPN. For various projects I cannot talk about.

* I read this nifty River/Sam crossover today, and I feel I should tell you all. (That's River Tam, not River Song.) It's a very fun fusion thingy, more River-centric than River/Sam, but Mal and Dean in particular are also delightful. And it has plot and everything!

Ha, on RPF, because with some exceptions, I mostly hated BtVS non-canon AUs or read them as badfic. Characterization went out the window and/or I considered Slayerness/vampirism so essential to the characters of Buffy and Spike that I didn't like seeing them stripped of it.

With SPN in general, I need the voices to be the same, but I don't care if Castiel is robot. In SPN RPF, I don't care about characterization, canon, etc. even a little bit, so long as it works in-fic.

Yeah. Two brothers with deadbeat dad issues + weirdo geek boyfriend translate to other situations a lot better than Slayer + vampire does. And the vampireness and slayerness was, respectively, SO key to Spike and Buffy's characters. It literally makes them who they are.

I read RPF for the first time during springfling (aside from one isolated Mishalecki fic), and I totally agree. It was just pure fun. And I loved the stylization of RPF fics--I only read SPN, and even then a specific subset of SPN, so it felt like an entirely different world. Not better or worse written, but delightful in different ways. And though I wouldn't seek out RPF still, or even read it if it showed up on my flist, in all likelihood, I'm all for the craziest AU someone can think up. XD Because you're right--I really, really don't care about their 'canon,' and don't care to.

Are the fics you're writing for challenges with blind posting? IT'S SO HARD NOT TO TALK. Good luck!

And bahaha that is me all day, every day. I've come to the conclusion that I really don't have the attention span for film or television; I just watch SPN over and over again. /O\ I'm cool with it.

Exactly. RPF is just FUN.

YES, blind posting fics. Ugh. One I can talk about soon, but the other, who even knows.

Despite knowing lots about TV from my friends, I hardly ever watch any. A Buffy or an SPN comes along once in a blue moon, and then I'm hooked on that one thing for however long. I dabble in other things, most recently Mad Men, but hardly anything sticks, you know? And I get bored, and I want to know what fandom is doing, and I poke at my WIPs. So much more fun.
