In the posts I nabbed the meme from, hardly anyone was choosing just one. If you can think of two or three representatives, that would be perfectly fine. As for the day, I want to know today's favorite. ;)

Interesting (to me) that I chose all angsty fic, when most people probably know me as a writer of romance/humor. Well, there is romance, here, but...not the fluffy kind. Hmmm. Maybe it's the weather. ;-)

I have a bizarre affection for my two Lucifer fics. It was a lot easier for me to write Satan-voice than I should probably cop to? whatever, I regret nothing.

Navel-gazing FTW?

My favorite multi-chapter fic is Show, Don't Tell, my Spuffy bitey fic. I'm proud of it because it's the hardest fic I've ever written (e.g., the sex scenes and all the emotional turbulence were difficult), and I feel especially affectionate toward it because it is very much part of my verse. Given the way I use Cordy and Anya, it's not a fic that just anyone with any old post-NFA verse could have written.

My favorite one-shot is Hers, my pre-S9 ficlet in which drunk!Buffy comes onto Spike. I'm proud of it because (a) I've never been drunk and yet reviewers seemed to think I portrayed it well and (b) I think it toes the line between sweet and saccharine well and is "adorable" without being gratuitously schmoopy.

I feel like I should say Sideways, because that's probably everyone else's favorite. It was definitely an accomplishment, and it was a fic I spent a good two years writing. And even if never write Spuffy again (because I keep intending to), I think Sideways is pretty good thing to have done for my only real story. But there are parts of it I'm not satisified with in retrospect, so.

My favorite is probably Damned. A year later, and there's not one word I would change on it, not one line that I dislike. It's a fic I put a lot of effort into. I spent forever trying to make Dean and Castiel's growing friendship believable. I liked twisting the canon to have different events that lead to the same outcome. Unfortunately, it's gen, lol, so that automatically means less readers.

Well, I've written some stuff, but unless you're interested in trade journals about training, I think you'd be disappointed.

That said, I've been working sporadically on some Season 7 Buffy meta. I don't know if it's one or a series, but I've been chewing on some thought for a while, so I might be ready to post soonish.

I think The Widening Gyre was the first thing I ever read of yours, back when you posted it at SS. I remember being quite impressed. (I probably didn't comment, though; I was brand new to fandom and pretty shy.) And Collateral Damage I read not too long ago - someone recced it for the Spike-loses-his-soul element, which I'm always interested in.

Well, you know how I feel about Show, Don't Tell. It is absolutely on my list of Most Interesting Spuffy of the Last Mumbly Years. (Two, I guess, at this point.) And I do particularly love both Anya and Cordelia in it.

Aw, I remember quite liking Hers, which you should take as a high compliment, given how I feel about the comics. :)

Well, I did say favorite, not best. Sideways is definitely one of my favorites, although I also will always love Dawning.

I'd still love to read the rest of Tilted! I'm all excited about the Big Finding Out Scenes.

Well, then I'd still say Damned because so far, it's the only fic that a significant amount of time has passed since I wrote it, and I can still reread it. You know how everything seems amazing when you're writing it, but then later it doesn't? I don't have any "why did I write this like this" feelings with Damned.

Which is sort of my problem with Tilted right now. I'm having epic problems rereading the last bit of Sideways to get into it again, so I don't, then it just sits there for long and longer, and then it's big bang season again, and I have to start on the Damned sequel, because I have to because there's a deadline, and it's easier to write anyway. But I do want to finish Tilted, and I will. But then no one will probably care, lol.

No, the penguin fics were someone else. That concept would take a far more creative mind than mine, I'm afraid. I've got a lot of admiration for anyone who could come up with such a thing, though. Fandom has a lot of really clever people in it.

Ooh, I remember the first one, from the remix that year. Quite a striking second look at a really remarkable original story.
