I have this problem where I mean to leave long, thoughtful, detailed feedback to fics I read, and I don't. I have fics I read a year, two years ago and wanted to think about before I left feedback on them – and so I never did. I read fics in big fandoms that I’m not active in, and I’m too shy to comment and tell the author that I enjoyed their story.

Enter More Feedback Week, Februray 11-19: an excuse to go tell people we like their stuff. Note that this isn’t about feeling guilty for feedback not left; it’s a reason for leaving feedback now! Today! All this week! It's also an excuse for us to ask for more feedback on particular fics or artwork.

There’s no tally-keeping here, folks, no minimum you have to meet. You want to participate? All you have to do is, well, leave more feedback. Here behind the cut are some ideas for leaving more feedback this week. There's quite a few; just choose a couple you like the sound of.

  • If you don’t usually comment on fic/fanart/icons, comment on a few that you like this week and say, “I liked this!”

  • If you usually leave short comments on fic or art, leave longer ones. Tell the author your favorite part or quote a few of your favorite lines. If you’re snagging icons, tell the author why you liked the ones you chose.

  • If the author’s someone you know and feel comfortable talking more in-depth with, analyze the fic a bit more than you usually do. Tell the author what you noticed about their treatment of the theme or their use of structure or the effect of their imagery.

  • If you have a fic you’ve been meaning to go back and comment on, do it now!

  • If you read your fic offline and never get around to going back and commenting, pick a couple of your recent favorites and go comment on them.

  • Comment on fic/art in a fandom that you read sometimes but rarely leave feedback in.

  • Comment on fic or art by a person you’ve never left feedback for before.

  • Comment on a fic/art/icon post that you already commented on but keep coming back to. You’re on your fifth reread? Let the author know!

  • Make a recs post of some fic/art/icons that you like, and drop the author/fanartist a note pointing them to it.

  • Follow the links in the comments of this post to read and give feedback on works people particularly want feedback on.

FAQ
I’m an author/fanartist. What if I have particular works I’d really like feedback on?

You have two options! One, you can comment to this post with links to the works you’d like feedback on, including:
* fandom
* title
* characters/pairing
* rating
* a link
* a brief summary or teaser (optional).
Please list all the fandoms in the comment title so people can find your comment more easily.

Two, you can post the same information in your journal so your friends can see what works you’d like feedback on. You can even dress up the post with one our shiny banners!

Speaking of...

What if I think this idea is totally rad and want to promote it?

Use the code below to post one of our nifty banners (courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] ruuger) to your journal. If you'd prefer pink instead of blue, replace the Photobucket link below with this one.

Why is More Feedback Week nine days long?

Because we couldn't possibly fit all the feedback we want to give into seven days! Also because I wanted it to include two weekends. :)

What if I don’t have time to leave more feedback this week, but I still want to eventually?

Honestly, this project isn't really about a special week; it's just about giving More Feedback. Anytime you do that, you're acting in the spirit of More Feedback Week, and we applaud you for it. \o/
