I'm midway through 1.5 A Whole New Kind of Bitch. I was overcome by the soapy soapiness and had to pause.

* Nestor Carbonell has ridiculous eyelashes.

* Sarah Michelle Gellar is very, very pretty. It's not something I ever noticed all that much when she was on BtVS; maybe it's just that she's matured a bit since then.

* But what are those heels she's always wearing? How is it not an insurance hazard to send your star actress out in those?

* It's a toss-up right now which is slimier, BFF's husband Henry or Siobhan's new boytoy Tyler. BLEAH.

* You guys, I cannot even deal with what's being done to Malcolm. I have so much harder a time with this than with, like, blood-and-bruises torture.

* So Gemma wants Bridget to sleep with her husband. YOU GUYS THIS IS SO STUPID.

--

The CW tells me that Balthazar is now on TVD, looking exactly like himself. Huh.

One of these days, I will surely end up watching TVD, if only because it seems like my entire flist already is. Also because clips suggest I might hate Ian Somerhalder marginally less as a blood-sucking fiend than as Boone, the most annoying pretty boy to ever be stranded on a desert island.

I KNOW RIGHT. That episode is the one in which I decided that I LOATHE EVERYBODY IN THAT BAR. Sadly, not even SMG is enough to make me keep going.

BAHAHAHA. Well. I don't know. As far as "annoying pretty boys" go, Ian's TVD character probably takes the royal undead brat prince crown. Just sayin'.

Well, there's a difference between a character I love to hate and a character I just... hate. I just hated Boone. I hated him so much that half the reason I've been avoiding TVD all this time was because the one thing I knew was that Somerhalder was in it. (The other being that, fundamentally? I don't actually get all that excited about vampires.)

Well, rest assured, Somerhalder is virtually unrecognisable on TVD. Actually, he was kind of one of the biggest surprises for me. I... did not really feature him as a maniacal blood-sucking fiend. :)

And oh yeah, the first half of S1 is pretty horrid. Like, I actually gave up watching and only came back because [livejournal.com profile] angearia made this big post about how much better it gets. So yeah, BE WARNED, lol.

I AM WARNED. Maybe I can talk someone - the roommate, say - into marathoning them with me, just to get them over with. When I feel like TV again, which I really haven't lately. Supernatural and three and a half episodes of Ringer and all I've watched since mid-September.

Really? When I first saw him in Lost, this was EXACTLY the kind of role I pictured him in, ROTFL.

BAHAHA. What? I mean, he's pretty enough for the CW, but he also kinda looks like a pixie. "That Boone dude" wouldn't have been my first choice for Damon Salvatore of all assholes. (The dye job + wardrobe, etc. help, but... yeah.)

If it helps, I don't get excited about vampires, either, but I love both BtVS and TVD in spite of that. They're just incredible characters... who happen to drink blood to survive, lol.

You guys, I cannot even deal with what's being done to Malcolm. I have so much harder a time with this than with, like, blood-and-bruises torture.

OMG I KNOW. I physically shudder during those scenes. Apart from what Boddiway's doing, I also can't stand the stuff with Bridget. She has used him so much, and he lets her, and I want to smack both of them really hard. Bridget doesn't even seem to realize how selfish it is of her to call him 24/7 with all her problems, and I kind of despise her for it. I want to like Malcolm because he seems like a decent person (and I certainly feel sorry for him), but at the same time he is such a moron about Bridget. That whole relationship is dysfunctional, and not in a fun way. :/

Sarah Michelle Gellar is very, very pretty. It's not something I ever noticed all that much when she was on BtVS; maybe it's just that she's matured a bit since then.

She is gorgeous, but I think I actually prefer her on BtVS. There's something about her now that seems almost too perfect, if that makes sense. She always looks runway-ready (except for her flashback addict scenes, which are so OTT). I prefer her more natural look on BtVS.

(and also, this is incredibly shallow of me, but I find it weird for her not to be so toned and athletic-looking anymore)

But anyway, yay, I'm so glad you're watching it still! I thought you had given up. I just watched tonight's episode (the seventh, I think), and even though I have so many criticisms of the show, it's so cracktastic that I kind of love it anyway. I definitely have some "what do you think of x?" questions for when you've caught up completely.

One of these days, I will surely end up watching TVD, if only because it seems like my entire flist already is

That's how I felt, but after buying the first season, I've only watched two episodes so far. Everyone says that apparently the first six episodes are awful and I just have to get past them, so I'll probably continue eventually. it seems a little anticlimactic though with all the previews I see on the CW and the fandom osmosis.

I might hate Ian Somerhalder marginally less as a blood-sucking fiend than as Boone, the most annoying pretty boy to ever be stranded on a desert island.

LOL, this amuses me because we have so many similar tastes, and yet Boone was one of my favorite parts of Lost. I stopped watched the first season the episode before he died because I knew it was going to happen and I didn't care for the show that much to begin with, so I was like, "Lalalalala, if I don't watch then it never happened, Boone and Charlie and Claire and a few other random characters I like will live happily ever after lalalalala."

I don't actually care about Malcolm at all as a character. His relationship with Bridget? Whatever. But OH HEAVENS NONCONSENSUAL TRIPPING AAAAAGH. (Twin Peaks did something similar and freaked me out almost as much, even though it was shot way differently.)

I thought I had given up, too. It's just, the flist has been commenting, and then I figured I should at watched the next few while they were still available (and I actually missed 1.02 entirely). I'm not sure I can keep going, though. I'm not enjoying the SUSPENSE O NOES moments very much.

I couldn't stand Boone. Could. not. stand. I mean, I hated Shannon, too, so some of the hatred was just by proximity, but still. However, I actually thought his death episode was... not too bad. And not just because it got rid of him. *g* (Not that very many people ever really leave the island, even after they're dead...)

I watched about 15 minutes of Ringer and then gave up on it. That's all I could take.

I do lurve TVD though! Ian's Damon starts out in the love to hate category on that show, for sure. And then you just start to hate yourself for loving him. ;-) The first few episodes do kind of go overboard on the melodrama and the fog machine, though. But if you like world building that actually is consistent and makes sense and stuff, and I think you do, you might give it a whirl.

(And he may look just like Balthazar, but he does not act like him AT ALL.)

I don't blame you for quitting Ringer. I think I'm sucked in, for now. Hopefully it will get canceled soon, and I won't feel the need to watch anymore!

Reeeally. That is very interesting. I am intrigued.

I'm not Balthazar's biggest fan, so when I heard Sebastian Roche was going to be on TVD, I was like, crap. I didn't want a Balthazar clone on my TVD. But apparently he's an actor who can act and play characters who are completely different from each other. Win win!

But you should definitely watch TVD. Now would be a good time to get caught up, after this week no new eps until January. *nudge nudge wink wink* Plus, it's always fun to watch a show while everyone is squeeing about it.

TVD also has this guy, who everyone seems to agree is awesome:

Elijah.

He might not be a main vampire, but he's the classiest, no doubt.

He's totally my "Gabriel" for this show--a minor character that has completely taken over my interest.

Yes. He's one of those people that I think is supposed to be attractive, but for me he's just far enough off the 'attractive' mark for me that he just makes me go BLEAH.

Although, again, it's possible that I just really, really hated Boone.

I'm still on like episode three of Ringer so I cannot react with you. But if you ever do get around to watching TVD, I would be incredibly interested on your ~thoughts~. I suspect they would be different than most people's.

I've been thinking that I might have to try it. I mean, I'm stuck in the middle of at least four shows right now and probably ought not to be picking up another, but TVD is very nearly a universal on my flist, it feels like. That must mean something good.

Ringer is useful! I'm working on a big embroidery project so it's TV that's not worth watching, but something to have on in the background. I'm through the backlog of Ringer, so now I'm using Bones for the same thing. There's something to be said for mediocre TV!

(Ringer is very ridiculous.)

I haven't decided about TVD yet.
