I think I read drabbles on AO3. I don't go out of my way to avoid them, at least. I don't read a ton there that isn't linked from elsewhere in any case. What I don't do is post drabbles over there, because I'm just not sure how to organize them in a way that makes sense to me. I don't think I'm the only one. Maybe I should just open a linked pseudo, like Rebcake Drabs, just for them? IDEK.

I've been posting drabbles over there, but I haven't done this latest bunch yet. I'm thinking maybe I'll lump them all in one long document with space between and all the appropriate tags, and then a person could read them all in one click, if they were so inclined.

I don't read a lot on AO3, unless a link in a rec post or something takes me there. But I would (including drabbles) if it did. :-)

That said, I have not archived anything on AO3 yet (except my Remix story) because it just seems like so much work. I want to, but I've been on LJ and posting fic here for almost 8 years! And when I think about the drabbles...yeesh.

Yeah, archiving is not an entirely painless process. There are a lot of things to click. But I do very much like the idea of having all of my fic together in at least one location, and AO3 is the most inclusive place I've found.

Nope. If my drabbles assembled themselves into a form that allows them to be neatly posted together, I'll post that, but otherwise, it's all here.

*nods*

They are awfully fiddly. On the other hand, I like the idea of having all my fic collected in one place. I think I may make a big document for all these latest drabble and post them together (with all the appropriate tags).

I don't mean to not read on AO3. It's just happened. I love drabbles and wish I was better at them myself.

I don't find its interface very intuitive, plus the LJ environment just feels more personal. But I do check it every so often.

I would love to see some drabbles from you! I totally support this notion.

I wrote a bunch of them in 2009, but last year I think there was only one. :(

So I went and hunted some down on your website (are there more squirreled away somewhere?) and man alive does "Broken Promises" pack a punch. "Pale knobs of bone in half-chewed gristle" - yikes.

So yes, I support the notion of further drabbles from you. :)

I've not been very good at archiving stuff to my website in the last couple of years, especially not shorter fics.

I wrote quite a few drabbles in 2009, mostly they were connected to pieces of fanart by [livejournal.com profile] sueworld2003. All those entries, including the art, except the one for May can be found here. The May one was one of those daft Fairy Spike ficlets.

Last year, I think I only wrote one drabble. I posted it on [livejournal.com profile] sb_fag_ends in November (I think).

I love drabbles - but I read them where I find them. AO3 is not on my regular list of places to go, so I have to follow a link to read there. Link to a drabble, I'll read it. Not link to it? I probably won't see it unless I'm there for something else. :)

Yeah, it's not the best place ever for browsing. It just doesn't feel very intuitive.

But just about everything I write is posted here first, so no need to worry about missing anything of mine, anyway.

I don't think that I avoid drabbles on AO3, but I'm less likely to go and read them than I am on LJ, because AO3 is slooooow.

I rarely search for things on AO3, because of the aforementioned slowness, and the fact that the tagging system is still all over the place. I find Delicious the best for finding fic by theme, although I tend to rely on the Sunnydale Herald, [livejournal.com profile] petzipellepingo, and my flist to provide me with Buffy fic.

All other things being equal (quality, pairing, theme), I find drabbles the least satisfying fic length.

Yeah, the tagging situation is pretty scattered. I don't think they have any regulation to speak of.

I should try Delicious more often. I've found good things there, but mostly I just don't think of it.

I confess, I adore drabbles. They're fun to write and such yummy treats to read if they're written well. They definitely don't have the same stick-to-your-ribs satisfaction as a longfic, though.

I haven't ventured into AO3 territory yet. I was vaguely considering putting my fics up there eventually (just in case this LJ goes kaplooey) but since I'm not reading much in general, I'm not very motivated to start reading on a new site.

Also, just out of curiosity, in case I do move my fic, what's the issue with posting drabbles that people are mentioning? Is it not properly set up for that?

No, it's as easy to post a drabble as anything else. It just feels a bit strange to go through the process of setting up a whole new page for just 100 words. And then it feels a little weird to read them, too - "That's all I get? Really?"

Yeah, this is another reason I haven't archived anything there yet. Plus slowness. Very annoying while I was trying to read Yuletide fic.

when I read on AO3 I tend to find an author I like a and read through her/his stuff. I probably don't seek out the drabbles, but I'll likely read them if I like the writer.

Yeah, I tend to read by author, too. The exception is when I'm exploring a new fandom or pairing and am willing to try anything. (I also keep an eye on the mpreg tag, usually to no very satisfying result.)

Shouldn't the title read: "This is in no way related to my having written 26 drabbles in December 2010"?

I remain skeptical and I suspect you back-dated those other drabbles (or borrowed the Tardis). Ahem.

[livejournal.com profile] dipenates's comment is pretty close to my thoughts. I'll read drabbles if they are easy to find (though if busy I also skip them in a way I don't with longer fic written by people I usually read - don't think I've ever bookmarked a drabble for later, for example). But I mainly think of them as quite disposable things. I did upload my older ones when there was a push to get more Buffy stuff on AO3, but I'm certainly not consistently doing it now.

As I told [livejournal.com profile] dipenates, I am terribly fond of drabbles. Still, reading them is a different experience than reading longer things, and I'm still not sure whether it's an experience suited to a fic archive.

Oh! It's short for Archive of Our Own, which is an all-fandom, all-pairing, all-rating fic archive. It's been open a year and a half or so, I think. It has a lot of promise, I think, but the actual website is not as easy to use as one would hope. A lot of our familiar folks put their fic there, though, including me.

From: [identity profile] seapealsh.livejournal.com
Now I get it. I actually already had your fic pages from there bookmarked. I agree with it not being easy to use. I couldn't see how to go to a certain title or author without running through all the pages. But that's just me. I'll have to work with it I guess.
