What does a Snick do when she's stressed and too tired to do anything about it? (Stressors: 6th grade graduation, major job application, upcoming international move.)

She spends forty minutes selecting and uploading new icons, of which this is one. And then she goes off and reads Megan Whalen Turner's The King of Attolia to the housemate while the housemate washes dishes.

Oooooooo! I've done the international move thing a few times. Getting through the "Hey kids -- you're gonna go to a new school in which everyone else is speaking a language you don't know yet" part is no joke! Good luck.

Well, no kids in my case (the 6th grade graduation is for my students), and as these things go it's about as straightforward an international move as one could have. Still: aaaahhhhh!

Where ya goin'? I did it to Germany, England (same language sorta kinds), and Austria -- German with a slightly different accent. Academics, not military.

I'm just now coming home to the States after a year teaching elementary school (and one 7th grade class) at a bilingual school in Honduras. I took Spanish classes in college and can along okay in it, but I'm definitely not fluent. Fortunately, the classes were taught in English. :) I've long wanted to spend some time abroad, so this past year fulfilled a long-held dream. I think I'm tired now and want to enjoy the U.S. of A. for a while, but hopefully I'll get to travel again eventually - maybe someplace in Europe next time? There are a bunch of places I'd like to visit in Europe.
