Lookee lookee! Seraph won Best Gen and - get this - Best Plot over at the Sunnydale Fanfiction Memorial Awards. (Considering my ongoing mystification by the mysterious process of Plot, this latter award kind of cracks me up.

Have I ever mentioned my theory of plot? At least, my plot? It is this: plot is like a bonsai tree. It is an organic process that you can adjust somewhat by watering or failing to water, by adjusting soil or adjusting light, but which you ought never to presume that you control. Also, it is very slow.)

Also, your theory of plot ... I can't really come up with anything better. I don't think I have plots, per se, although things happen. Organically and slowly. Things happening to people (or their demony equivalents: that's the best I can do.

Congrats (and thank you). I think you're underestimating your plotting abilites, possibly because you don't have some kind of masterplan worked out in advance. But Spike has an emotional journey that also involves lots of other people, moving from place to place, considerably more than just dialogue. That, I would say, is plot.

Well, okay, then. I think of plot as being the external events, the scaffolding on which the emotional arc is hung, and the external events of this story were always a bit thin on the ground. The vamp cultists were never more than a device to put Spike and Spike-let in peril when I felt like it.

But if you say it, then I guess it is so. *g*
