"How do you feel about ventriloquism?"
Oct. 3rd, 2009 01:51 pmWhat does ventriloquism have to do with anything "on the glandular level"? I would have classed it more with muscle memory.
Topher is such an idiotic genius.
Gosh, Miracle Laurie is gorgeous. It was nice to see her again.
The lightning was a bit much. Or a lot much.
And I squee every time I see Sierra's handler, because it's Marco Sanchez. He once upon a time spent two seasons playing Ortiz on seaQuest DSV, which was my very first TV love.

Date: 2009-10-03 10:00 pm (UTC)Er, yeah. I have to admit, this ep was kind of a let-down for me. I thought the whole "body is stronger than the mind" thing was an interesting concept, but then they decided to play it like a horror movie and my eyes rolled so hard my head hurt.

OMG THAT'S HIM??? I loved seaQuest (and I loved Ortiz) but I totally didn't recognize him.

I adored seaQuest as a girl, and I had a huge crush on Lucas. Wasn't so much a fan of Ortiz. However, I rewatched the first season when it came out on DVD a few years ago, and was surprised at how much my loyalties had shifted: Krieg and Hitchcock had, separately and together, become my favorite characters, and I liked Ortiz a whole lot more than before. One of these days I need to rewatch the second season and see how it fares now.

Date: 2009-10-03 11:01 pm (UTC)I pretty much loved everybody in the original cast. Oh, and I loved Brody and Piccolo in S2. But I mostly resented the new people - Henderson, Fredericks, the new doctor, and especially Captain Henderson. Ohhhh, how DARE they replace Captain Bridger! I was pretty bitter about losing Krieg and Hitchcock, too.
*really wants to rewatch now*

Date: 2009-10-03 11:20 pm (UTC)One of the places the show failed, I think, was in its female characters - there was no one I liked much at all after S1. I actually didn't like Hitchcock, either, but like I said she improved much with the rewatch. There's all this interesting stuff about being a woman in command and a commanding officer above her ex and things like that that I appreciate more now than I did then.
And I suspect I'd like Fredericks a lot more now. I was so mad about losing Bridger (grr!) that I really had no use for the third season, but I think I'd find the SFnal aspects of Fredericks much more intereresting now.
Yes to Brody and Piccolo. And the new doctor pretty much drove me up the wall, even at the tender age of 12.
This is reminding me that I really need to cough up the bucks and buy the second season. Which is now only $24 on Amazon, woohoo!
(And, can I just say how thrilled I am to find a fellow fan? Thrilled.)

Date: 2009-10-04 06:14 pm (UTC)I was always a Hitchcock fan - she struck me as the kind of career woman I wanted to be (would you believe that at one point, I actually considered joining the Navy? Then I found out they had, like, physical fitness requirements and stuff). We also have the same view of kids - never really wanted 'em, career doesn't really allow for 'em, but every once in a while, you wonder if you're missing something.
This is so getting bumped to the top of my Blockbuster queue, lol. Nostalgia!
(Are you the person who watched Sliders, too? I know it was someone on my flist. Because if so, I think I've found my childhood TV soulmate, lol.)

Date: 2009-10-04 06:29 pm (UTC)LOL. I know. Every time I've ever even vaguely considered a career in the military, the thought of boot camp stops the idea cold.
Nope, I'm not the Sliders person. It's on the to-be-watched list, but I haven't gotten to it yet.
