1. The opening credits theme of Ats popped into my head just now. And you know, I think I liked the theme quite a bit more than I liked anything else in the show.

2. In flying to my new home, I ended up watching the inflight movie 17 Again (Yet Another Teenage Bodyswap Movie), because I thought I spotted Michelle Trachtenberg in the teaser trailer. Indeed, I did! Alas, there was not nearly enough Michelle Trachtenberg (and it's a little peculiar watching her still playing a high school student).

Also, the lead role was played by Zac Efron, whose first role was young Simon Tam in "Safe" and who's now one of the hot ticket teen idols. It amuses me to no end to think of teenybopper girls tracking him down in Firefly, watching the one episode, and having no idea what's going on.

3. My laptop died a couple of days ago. No worries, the data is fine, but all things computer-related are happening on the housemate's computer until the replacement laptop arrives, so it'll be a bit yet before I get the next Seraph update finished.

I guess on Buffy MT was actually the age Dawn was supposed to be. At any rate, I remember her talking about having tutors on the set. So now she's at the 20-something age when everyone else plays high school students, LOL, and is still doing it.

Yep. I really liked the fact that when she was playing Dawn at 14-15, she actually was 14-15.

Except then they wrote the character like she was 10, lol, so it still seemed like she was playing much younger than her real age.

I kind of wanted to watch 17 Again for MT, but I'm opposed to Zac Efron on principle (because of High School Musical), so that turned me off (as did the fact that I have little patience for teen movies anymore).

Well, yes, there is that. *g*

As a movie it was... lacking. I dunno. It didn't hit any of my squick buttons for skeeze, which it could very easily have done, and I didn't mind the main character. Much. There was a very amusing side romance between the high school principal (closet geek) and the main character's best friend (very much out of the closet geek). But mostly it was just too easy, and it didn't take the story any of the really good places it could have gone.

Your usual skin-deep high school movie, in other words.

(Also, I was continually confused as to how someone with as much teenage charm as Zac Efron could have grown into someone so off-putting as Matthew Perry, but that might just have been me.)

My daughter loves the AtS theme too. So much that she learned it on the keyboard, drum track and all :-)

Cool!

I went and made a Pandora (online customizable radio) station with the band that did the theme, although it turned out I didn't like any of their other stuff quite as well.

Yeah, same here. That seems to happen to me often - I'll love the track used on a TV show, but none of the rest of the band's music.

Or there's that one hit song and the radio... and it turns out there's a reason you've only ever heard one of their songs.

I feel the same way!

Hee. From the very beginning, I wished the show better matched the theme. (Although I'm not quite sure what I mean by that; I have a long history of wishing narratives evoked the same feelings as pieces of music, without having any idea how that might happen.)
