1. Presumably everyone in all of fandom except me has already seen this, but today I found [livejournal.com profile] ellen_fremedon's essay on slash, shamelessness and the "id vortex", as well as her follow-up posts (with linkage) and an interesting resulting discussion over at Making Light. All ancient posts, in Internet terms, but fascinating stuff.

2. [livejournal.com profile] herself_nyc finished her vamp!Buffy fic Not Dead (NC-17). Hurrah! Lovely stuff, and I say that as someone who really doesn't like reading about canon characters getting vamped.

3. It turns out that my sister, who is highly skeptical of this whole fanfiction concept, wrote literary crossover fic for her lit class last semester - between T.C. Boyle's "Greasy Lake" and John Updike's "A&P." That...could be kind of fabulous.
