I have a theory

* Do you notice how every other psychic we've found is shorter than average? Max, Andy, Weber, Ava? That's because the demon took their extra height and transferred it to Sam, making Sam even more special than we realized. (Well, and then there's Matt Carrey, but he's dead so he doesn't count. Or something.)
* So, Ava is not dead yet, apparently. I see two possible reasons for why her engagement ring was on the floor:
1. She was possessed all along, and now that the demon's accomplished whatever it meant to accomplish with Sam, it cut her "fiance's" throat to make a phone call, tossed away the ring as no longer important, and vamoosed. This would also explain why she happened to have the same gift as Sam, which we haven't seen before. She used the gift she already knew he had, to help gain his confidence.
2. She's a smart girl and when she and her fiance were attacked, she managed to leave her ring as a clue for Sam, so he'd know she was still alive. This explains why we the audience saw her have that vision.
No question which of these I prefer.
* There had better be a darned good reason for why the demons didn't just possess the Winchesters directly to give back the Colt. Presumably there are rules for possession? Otherwise the demons hold way too many of the cards for this game to be interesting.
* I think Gordan's "roadhouse source" is connected to Jo somehow. She hasn't been home in weeks? Sends a postcard now and then? I betcha she got herself kidnapped or something.
