* Keepin' It 1600 - podcast with four former Obama aids. I got hooked on this shortly before the election even though I basically never listen to podcasts.

* [ profile] leupagus has started something called political homework that seems like a great way way to motivate oneself to learn the ropes of their local politics.

* 10 Questions for Fake News Detection, a handy chart from The News Literacy Project

* This morning I called my senator to thank her for her vocal opposition to several Trump cabinet picks. The staffer sounded very pleasantly surprised that I wasn't calling to complain. Which is to say, if your elected officials are doing something good, let them know! Positive reinforcement!

* Speaking of that, a call to support Kellogg pulling their ads from Breitbart would not go amiss.

I also started listening to Keepin' it 1600 just a few weeks before the election, and enjoyed what I heard, but I haven't listened to it since the election, because everything is so freaking depressing/rage-inducing now. I should start listening again, though, because it's a good way to keep informed.

There's a lot of gallows humor on it these days, but I appreciate hearing from people who can articulate their fears precisely, out of their knowledge and experience. As scary as those concerns are, it's still better than nebulous unknown awfulness.

My capacity for news really depends on the day. :\
