* When it comes to playing "Who's the alpha/beta/omega," I find it way more interesting to cast leader characters as militant omegas than as alphas who were just naturally born to leadership. Really, I just want to screw with all the a/b/o gender norms at every turn. We are all shocked.

* I have discovered a sudden and mighty need for moderately IC Steve Rogers mpreg. Alas, there seems to be none. There really isn't any het Steve Rogers mpreg.

* I like a lot of MCU characters better than their comics equivalents. I think part of this is actors being able to give even flatly-written characters more nuance and likability: see for example Sharon Carter, who's doing nothing for me in the comics but whom I expect to like in the movie if for no other reason than because she's played by Emily Van Camp, which is perfect casting by the way.

But also, for the guys in particular, it's because male superheroes look so ridiculous in the comics. You know that old, wrong retort that guys are sexualized in comics just like women are? No. Guys in mainstream superhero comics, especially on the cape-and-mask side of things, are bizarre and weirdly bulgy and completely off-putting as sexual objects, and I'm not even talking about Rob Liefield. I'm talking about any of the Cap comics covers.

Which isn't to say you can't have hot men in comics. Marko in Saga is quite attractive. See how he's built more like a normal human being, despite the horns and ears? Yes. I also find Fantomex extremely attractive, but that's like 90% because he has a really fabulous costume. Anybody'd look good in that. *points to icon*

Interestingly, the X-men side of things tends to be slightly less bulgy, partly, I suppose, because a lot of the guys have nonstandard body types in the first place: Beast, Nightcrawler, Colossus, Rockslide. Wolverine's muscular but short, which kind of undercuts the Greek god thing that the male Avengers so often fall prey to.

First, netweight has become my new favorite human being, because they have just posted a history of the development of A/B/O in SPN fandom, including lots of data, links to delicious accounts and seminal fics, discussion of those fics - it's a great compilation of facts about a piece of fannish history I find fascinating.

Reading it brings back that first flush of wide-eyed, boggled enthusiasm I had for this trope and all its possibilities - and, for that matter, for SPN fandom in general and RPF fandom in particular. That was the summer I discovered Chash and lexicale, who between them are the reason I read RPF at all, much less write it. Those were halcyon days, my friends.

Anyway: YAY FACTS. If you ever wanted to know where this monster of a thing came from in the first place, here you go.

Meanwhile, scaramouche/dachinchilla has just finished the latest installment of her Dean/Castiel arranged marriage 'verse, which is basically EVERYTHING I EVER WANTED in arranged marriage, and you all know what a favorite kink of mine that is. There is awkwardness and us-against-the-world camaraderie in spades, and an unhappiness with the situation and basic ignorance of one another that cannot be solved by a roll or two in the hay. It makes me SO HAPPY, you guys.

Summary: Jensen's a pregnant omega running away from his past, and Danneel's the beta whose cafe he stumbles into. One night's shelter turns into a long-term arrangement, and Danneel finds herself falling for him, even though beta/omega relationships are considered pretty weird, and female!beta/male!omega relationships are considered really weird.

A/N: So here it is, folks, the kinkmeme WIP I've been hinting about for almost a year. I didn't expect it end up this long, and I really didn't expect it to take this long - I started it almost exactly a year ago as procrastination from my spn_reversebang fic and have been updating in fits and starts ever since. This is sheer idfic, folks. There's snow and lots of tea and soup, and also het mpreg a/b/o. Yes. And then about 5k in I decided to keep it at a PG rating, because I could.

This is a spin-off from The Epic A/B/O List. The portion of that list dealing with female characters is by far the fastest-growing (w00t!), so I'm breaking it off into its own list, here. I'll continue to add fics featuring ladies to categories in the other post as I find them, but this is meant to be a vaguely comprehensive listing of all a/b/o fic in which one of the primary characters is female.

Most of what I have here, I've found a) because it's in one of my fandoms (BtVS, SPN, SPN RPF), b) through AO3, or c) via a_b_o_ladies. There's a few I have read yet. Of those I have read, I've marked a few of my very favorites with double asterisks (**). This isn't to say they're the best or explore the issues in the most interesting way or have the hottest porn (really not), but that they make me happy.

A/N: written for the a_b_o_ladies Het/Femslash ficathon. This follows my genfic These Spooky Old Woods but should stand alone reasonably well. It helps to know that alphas and omegas are rare and secret and have magic, and they refer to the rest of the population as "Normals."

janice_lester has just made my morning by posting Hot Shoot, in which Jared's an omega and Gen's the hot alpha photographer of his and Jensen's S4 photo shoot. It's got adorable infatuated Jared and sweet-yet-in-charge alpha!Gen and Jensen hanging around looming protectively, as alpha BFFs of omegas ought obviously to do in situations such as these.

It's darling, and it's Jared/Gen, and you should read it.
