1. Given that I claim not to be invested in the lives of celebrities and also have only a passing interest in babies, I am disproportionately pleased that Jensen and Danneel are having one.

2. It is a measure of my feelings regarding B5 that I sat down to watch more today, only to realize that I watched three episodes the other night, rather than four. It felt like four, okay?

Speaking of, I now recall that I found Dr. Stephen Franklin a self-righteous boor. And what man of science calls it "cutting corners" or "taking shortcuts" to look for alien technology instead of reinventing it from scratch?

I couldn't finish 1.04 to the very end; the conversation between Franklin and his friend Vance was just too much. (Surprisingly, Sinclair's big speech five minutes prior wasn't too much, even though it was so awful that I was hiding my face in my hands part of the time.)

3. Now is probably a good time to reiterate my feelings about spoilers, which are: Tell me noooothing. I don't know want to know if such-and-such character comes back, I don't want to be told what the juggernaut pairing is (true fact: when I watched BtVS the first time, I had NO IDEA that Spike/Buffy was canon), I probably don't even want to know if it gets better or not. (If I do want to know, I'll ask.)

Just assume I am a delicate flower when it comes to spoilers, and all will be well. :D

It makes me go all mushy; babies are lovely :). I don't want one for me, but I find them very endearing in their little semi-made-human way. So wee and cute and everything is new and they learn stuff and the best bit is when their babble starts to get close to words, like they're coming into focus :).

It also makes me feel a bit gossipy, because when I heard they were selling their house I was all IT IS BABY TIME because it wasn't very kid-friendly-looking (lots of white and not much outdoors), and now, IT IS BABY TIME, and that might be the only time I've speculated like that. Nice thing to be right about though :D.

Hah, there are going to be SO many kids on that set.

B5, I remember liking S2 onward better. Sheridan more than Sinclair.

In my recent rewatch, "Infection" definitely felt like the weakest episode of the entire first season to me (and from what I've seen online, it sounds like both fans en masse and JMS himself felt that way, too). So, at least you're past that nadir?

even though it was so awful that I was hiding my face in my hands part of the time

Possibly the awfulness was what finally defeated the alien armour thingy? ;) I think I'll think of it that way from now on, because it definitely was nuclear-strength cringeworthy.

Gottcha-- no spoilers! I'll really, really try. You've nearly talked me into rewatching though!

And episodes 3 & 4 are IMO just about the worst of the series. The Dr Franklin one doesn't even make logical sense. Grumble. I did start loving him (much) later, if that's not a spoiler!

Somehow I expected you'd be more excited than this.

As you say, I've never felt any need for babies of my own. However, my household is producing one in the spring, so I will get to be Auntie Snick. I expect that perhaps I will develop stronger feelings about one that I'm personally invested in than I have about Babies At Large. :)

Ha ha! I am amused that you put that much analysis into their house. Congrats on good guessing.

Yeah, Jeffrey Sinclair cannot be gone soon enough. He intones EVERYTHING. He's unconvincingly earnest - it's the worst of all worlds.

It's comforting that the fan base feels that way about "Infection," too. Otherwise I'd doubt y'all's taste. :D (And sadly, despite the awfulness, it was still the least boring ep so far. I mean, it hit all biotechnology and body horror buttons!)

Possibly the awfulness was what finally defeated the alien armour thingy?

LOL. I'm quite willing to accept that theory.

That's comforting. It's bound to get better from here. It has to.

I will be amused if you end up rewatching, too! That would be fun. :)

It's nice to be an auntie, though I find proximity is extremely relevant. I'm closer to my friend's baby whom I see frequently than to any of the kids related to me; the latter I see every couple of years, though hear about frequently online. With the friend's kid, I'm extremely invested in things like his development or all manner of baby things :).

I really didn't! I was curious enough about the pictures to go to the anonhaven gossip post to see them, and there was some speculation, and I chucked in 2 cents as to why someone might leave a perfectly nice house, though there are really any number of reasons. And then I ran away.
